Noticing your water levels dropping in your pond or water garden?
The combination of dry weather, vigorous summer growth and the higher arc of the sun in the sky resulting in longer days, will mean that you may see increased water evaporation from your water gardens. Summer is a good time to keep an eye out for dropping water levels. Likely you are experiencing evaporation at accelerated rates, and if this is the case, simply top up the water garden with the garden hose, being sure not to replace more than fifty percent of the water volume at a time.
Condensation underneath your pot?
If you are noticing condensation under the pot, you can give your water garden a little aeration underneath by lifting it with 3 ceramic pot feet, 3 flat stones, or tiles. If you are suspicious if your pot has a leak, doing this will help you determine if there is a significant amount of seepage under the pot. Raising your pot will also protect from creating a water ring under your pot. This is especially important on wood decking material.
