Water heals. There are many ways to connect with the healing powers of water such as swimming, sitting on the seaside, gazing at an aquarium, or incorporating a water garden into your life. Add the happiness-inducing effects of watching a water lily bloom daily, and you will come to know a potent antidote to life’s many stressors. Not only will it increase your happiness and elevate your mood, but it will also encourage you to slow down, smell the water lilies, and gaze into the calming, dappled underwater scene of a harmonious fish-snail-and-plant-ecosystem. Something our ancestors co-evolved with, and has been shown to lower heart rate, boost creativity and problem solving, and lower stress and anxiety levels.

Nymphaea Ruby: Year Round Dark Pink Bloomer
The gorgeous magenta pink Ruby water lily is a true gem of the water garden. This sweet and easy-to-care-for water lily, Nymphaea Ruby is a tropical water lily with dark pink petals that are lighter at the base and slightly darker burgundy at the edge, giving it a gem-like radiance.
You can grow this lily in a container garden or ceramic pot
Ruby waterlily is a medium to large lily and it will adapt to smaller containers well. Fertilize your Ruby lily once per month and you will enjoy its prolific blooms.
Here on Kauai we see this lily bloom all 12 months of the year. We have had the same Ruby water lily blooming for over 20 years – the same plant – at an account that we take care of.
Repotting twice per year keeps it happy!
Knowing how to care for your waterlily begins with tuning in and repotting once – or better yet – twice per year (or as needed). Repotting in the spring and fall is ideal. Here is a video on how to repot.
